History
UN WFP Mission (WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME) - monitoring programme and UNOPS - LOYA JIRGA elections programme, Afghanistan, year 2002
In Afghanistan, initially, our air company was involved in the UN WFP mission, performing a 2-month contract following the anti-terrorist operation of the United States in Afghanistan.
During the period of contract performance with four MI-8-MTV-1 helicopters, from February to May 2002, we have performed cargo and passenger transport flights, aeromedical evacuation flights (MEDEVAC) and VIP flights.
Mainly flights were operated for the purpose of monitoring the situation with food and medical supplies in different regions of Afghanistan, as well as for the delivery of humanitarian aid in the most hard-to-reach mountain areas.
In the period from May to June 2002, the helicopters were involved in performing operations under the UNOPS LOYA JIRGA elections programme. In the subject period, more than 5000 persons were transported from different regions and areas of Afghanistan to Kabul in order to participate in the voting and elections of the temporary government of Afghanistan.
