Press release regarding An-26 aircraft, reg. ER-AVB

On 14 October 2017, an AN-26 aircraft, reg. No. ER-AVB, operated by air company Valan International Cargo Charter, has crashed near Abidjan airport, Cote D’Ivoire.

There were 10 persons on board: 6 Moldovan crewmembers and 4 representatives of the customer. The aircraft was operating a cargo flight with civil cargo on board (air conditioning units). It is confirmed that 4 persons have lost their lives, all Moldovan crewmembers. From the surviving 6, 2 foreign nationals are injured and being treated in the hospital, while the remaining 4 (2 crewmembers and 2 representatives of the customer) are in stable condition and their lives are not in danger. Currently, all measures are being undertaken in order to determine the circumstances in which the accident has occurred. The air company will provide an update once more confirmed information is available.

According to preliminary information, at the time of the accident in Abidjan there were complicated weather conditions caused by a strong storm.
